Margarita Huerta, 31, known professionally as Margarita was born on July 23 in Harlingen Texas. She was introduced to music by a singing family including her uncle Baldermar Huerta who later become famous as Freddy Fender.
However, before she got a reputation as a musician she had established a reputation as an expert in the martial art of Tae Kwon Do beginning at age 5. Ultimately she won the Gold Medal in the U.S. Olympics Youth Competition and a Bronze Medal in the World Competition.
Her musical career began as a violinist while in high school and college. She then began to be a vocalist as well for the Mariachi Del Cielo in Corpus Christi. Professionally, she recorded her first album in 1998 under the title "Margarita", which also came with her first nomination to Tejano Music Award (TTMA), as "Revelation of the Year", "Female Artist of the Year" and "Best Vocalist of the Year. "
Her initial album, "Margarita" was followed by three more.
