Ghostland Observatory
Guitarist/Vocalist Aaron Behrens and Thomas Turner "the beat maker" formed their group in 2004 out of Austin Texas. Their music has a techno sound mixed with rock that is all their own. Over the past two years they have made numerous television and concert appearances. Every where they go their dazzling lightshow and electric performance make instant fans.
They have recorded three albums with the last one, Robotique Majestique just released.
They were the final act at the Dunes Stage on first night of the SPI Music Fest and we found many people excited to hear them. People had traveled from many states just to hear this band. Their fans were not just young people, we found folks from age 13 to age 70 dancing in the crowd including many local artists from the Austin music scene. Since it was Halloween many in the crowd were wearing illuminated horns for the concert. By the way, Turner always wears a cape made by his wife when in concert.
Overall we found their performance was gripping, exciting, and enchanting. Sad Sad City is already a classic. Some may say they are hottest band in Texas. At times they remind us of Queen and perhaps thats why they have a transgenerational appeal. We think they rate as among the best concert givers ever. TM

They said this about themselves "Ghostland Observatory is not a band, but an agreement between two friends to create something that not only heals their beat-driven hearts, but pleases their rock ‘n roll souls. Taking the working man’s approach, Ghostland Observatory spend countless hours in their south Austin studio. They have released two albums in less than a year, and have moved audiences from coast to coast with their live performances and unique style. Ghostland Observatory is the duo of front man Aaron Behrens and producer/drummer Thomas Turner. Behrens’ vocal style and stage performances are unique and uncompromising, and he has drawn early comparisons to Freddie Mercury and Prince. Turner is heavily influenced by electronic artists such as Daft Punk, Laurent Garnier and Green Velvet, as well as rockers such as The Animals, David Bowie, and The Clash. With their spectral blend of electronics, drums, guitar and vocals, they have emerged with a sound that is the culmination of past influence and present inspiration, and can only be described as BALLSY.
